Andreas Hartwig is an ophthalmic optician with international experience in research and clinical practice. After graduating as engineer in ophthalmic optics from a German University of Applied Sciences, he went on to acquire practical experience in international institutions before earning his PhD from the University of Manchester, UK with a thesis on the causes of myopia, a topic which has since remained one of his main research interests. Andreas Hartwig then worked as a clinical study manager for an international contact lens manufacturer. He has published several articles in professional journals and has presented his research results at international conferences. Beyond his work as an optometrist, Andreas Hartwig currently operates a research center that specializes in conducting clinical contact lens trials. He is a publicly appointed and sworn expert for the ophthalmic optics trade of the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce and holds academic positions as a visiting lecturer at the University of Manchester and at Aston University, Birmingham, where he also supervises doctoral candidates. Dr. Hartwig also teaches at the Akademie der Augenoptik, ZVA-Bildungszentrum e.V., Germany.
