Now is the time. Optometry and Contact Lenses (OCL), the new official journal of the Association of German Contact Lens Specialists and Optometrists (VDCO), is now a reality. OCL appears ten times a year and publishes scientific and clinical articles as well as casuistry from the fields of ophthalmic optics, optometry, ophthalmology and related disciplines. But also interviews with well-known personalities, news from science and book reviews are also part of the OCL spectrum. Each issue also includes the "COE certified continuing education" section. Before publication, all articles undergo a double-blind review by recognized national and international experts, thus guaranteeing a high level of professional integrity.

OCL is aimed at practitioners and scientists in the fields of optometry and ophthalmology from Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as students of these disciplines. The development of knowledge in the field of optometry and ophthalmology is enormous. This requires an international professional discourse, which is why selected publications appear on the OCL website www.ocl-online.de in English as Open Access. With its top-class Editorial and Scientific Advisory Board, OCL is ideally equipped for this. Already the first issue of the new journal shows the high topicality and quality of the scientific and clinical contributions, and the upcoming issues already promise interesting publications. OCL offers graduates of colleges and universities specializing in optometry and ophthalmology the opportunity to present their theses and dissertations to an international professional audience - but other scientists and practitioners of both disciplines are also invited to publish interesting technical papers in OCL.

DOZ Publishing and the entire OCL editorial team are committed to making Optometry and Contact Lenses (OCL) a top-notch journal of equal interest to readers and authors in the closely interrelated disciplines of optometry and ophthalmology.

With this in mind - enjoy studying the first OCL issue.
